Wallingford Family of Schools – Dance Festival

Once again, Wallingford School hosted the annual Wallingford Family of Schools Dance Festival, organised and directed by Harriet Thomas, Wallingford School Primary Co-ordinator.

Each year the standard of dance gets better and better. The primary schools involved were Benson, Brightwell- Cum- Sotwell, Cholsey, Crowmarsh, St Johns, Fir Tree Junior, St Nicholas CE and of course Wallingford School.

Each school choreographs a unique dance, usually a piece that reflects what they have been learning within the classroom. We feel as well as building pupils self-expression, creativity and self-confidence our dance festival brings people from different schools together and creates a wonderful feeling of community.

Even the Major of Wallingford made an appearance and thoroughly enjoyed the event

Well done to all who participated – here’s to next year!

Sports Leaders from Wallingford School lead a Tag Rugby Tournament for Year’s 5 & 6 - 4 schools and 40 pupils.

This exciting event was a complete success - A very well run event – the leaders had to rearrange the order of play at the last minute. The coaching and refereeing by the sports leaders was effective. The pupils played very well – the standard improves each year.

The result was:

  • 1st Benson
  • 2nd Fir Tree
  • 3rd Crowmarsh
  • 4th St John’s

Well done to all who participated and a big Thank you to the Sports Leaders

Munga 2009 - by Callum McClarty

There are few things in life more demoralizing than walking in to a hall dressed as a Korean dictator, only to find no one else has bothered to dress up.

After this slight set-back, the 2009 Model General United Nations assembly got underway, and after a somewhat…lengthy introductory talk by the Chairman the debate got going. To begin with there was a somewhat nerve racking round of speeches regarding Human Rights, with the inevitable shaking hands and nervous stutters that anyone would suffer from, having written their speech 5 minutes previously on the back of the handout.
